Tennessee has Podium Finishes at HOCR and the Secret City Head Race

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee rowing team was in action at the Head of the Charles Regatta (HOCR) and the Secret City Head Race on Saturday. UT had podium finishes across the board, including a second-place finish by the Club 4+ in Cambridge, Mass., and by the Novice 8+ team in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
"Well done to our team," head coach Lisa Glenn said. "We will keep it going through the off-season and into the spring. We can close those seconds."
At the HOCR, Camryn Farren coxed the crew of Katherine Schildmeyer, Brookmyer McIntyre and Haley Savastano, Abigail Craine to a time of 18:45.960, besting 55 other entries. First place was Duke, finishing in 18:37.474. This marks the second year in a row that a UT boat has taken second at the HOCR.
At the Secret City Head Race, the Lady Vols had five boats compete in the Novice 8+ race and finished second (19:23.4), third (20:15.1), fifth (20:31.0), sixth (20:48.1) and seventh (21:00.6). The whole race had 14 boats competing and Clemson placed first with a time of 19:14.3.
Tennessee competed in two other races in Oak Ridge, including six boats in the Collegiate 1x and four in the Collegiate 2-. Ana Pelic and Channing Bearden placed first in the Collegiate 2- field with a time of 20:12.2, with three Lady Vols finishing right behind them. In the Collegiate 1x, Sarah Warner took first with a time of 23:07.0 and also had five UT boats right behind her.
Fall competition finishes tomorrow with the Championship 8+ boat competing at 2:49 p.m. in the HOCR.
