Four Named to USA Swimming National Team

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Four Tennessee swimmers were named to the 2018-19 USA Swimming National Team, the sport governing body announced this week.
Former Lady Vol and 2016 Olympian Molly Hannis earned national honors in the 100-meter breaststroke, posting the second-fastest time in the country this year (1:05.78). She placed second in the event at the U.S. summer nationals.
Junior Meghan Small earned national honors in the 200-meter individual medley (2:11.65). She is the school record holder in both the 200- and 400-yard IM and won an SEC title in the 200 IM as a freshman.
Open water swimmers David Heron and Taylor Abbott represent the Vols on the men's USA Swimming national team list. Heron, who graduated in May, defended his title in the USA Swimming National Open Water Championship. Abbott, a junior, joined Heron on Team USA for the Pan Pacific Championships this summer in Tokyo.
Tennessee's swimming and diving season begins Sept. 28 with the annual Orange and White Intrasquad Meet at Allan Jones Aquatic Center.
