Lady Vols are winners of 18 of last 19 in the series
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee volleyball team hits the road for the first away match of the season. The Lady Vols will travel to East Tennessee State for a matchup with the Buccaneers Tuesday night in J. Madison Brooks Gymnasium.
Tennessee enters the match 6-0 and in search of just its sixth 7-0 start in program history. The Lady Vols have never lost in five trips to Johnson City, the match ending in a sweep for Tennessee in 2008.

SCOUTING THE BUCCANEERS
East Tennessee State enters the match with a 5-1 record, which includes a four-set win over Clemson and a three-set defeat to South Carolina. The Buccaneers finished 2017 with a record of 19-12 and 12-4 in the SoCon, earning a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Junior Leah Clayton and sophomore Marija Popovic both earned preseason All-SoCon honors while the team was picked to finish second in the league.

The Lady Vols road trip continues this weekend when they travel to California to take on No. 16 University of San Diego for a pair of matches. The Toreros have made 21 apperances in the NCAA Tournament reaching the tournament the last nine seasons.

- The Lady Vols picked up right where they left off in the Tennessee Classic. They swept the Eagles in three sets behind double-digit kill performances from junior Tessa Grubbs (12 kills) and senior Erica Treiber (10 kills).
- Tennessee started the season 5-0 for the 10th time in program history with a four set victory over the Ospreys. Freshman Lily Felts contributed a season-high 18 kills in the victory.
- The Lady Vols finished off the sweep of the weekend with a three set victory over the Sycamores. Freshman Danielle Mahaffey totaled a season-best 11 kills while fellow freshman Giana Pellizzon picked up 10 digs in the victory.
