VOLS IN THE PROS UPDATE: August 16

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – VFL Will Maddox had a hit in all five games he's played in over the past week and is currently riding a six-game hit streak. With two two base hits on Wednesday, Maddox passed the century mark for the year.

MAJOR LEAGUES
Zack Godley – SP, Arizona Diamondbacks
Season: 13-6, 4.20 ERA, 25 G, 24 GS, 137.0 IP, 133 H, 72 R, 64 ER, 61 BB, 143 K
Godley made his 24th start of the year on August 12 against Cincinnati and earned his 13th victory of the season after giving up two runs (one earned) while striking out six in 6.2 innings of work. Over his last seven games, Godley has posted a 3-0 record with a 2.56 ERA and 44 strikeouts.
Yan Gomes – C, Cleveland Indians
Season: 85 G, 40 R, 74 H, 20 2B, 11 HR, 38 RBI, 19 BB, .421 SLG, .302 OBP, .245 AVG
Gomes singled and drove in a run in Cleveland's 9-7 win over the White Sox on August 12 and followed that up with a 3-for-5 performance in a 10-3 victory against Cincinnati the next day. Gomes had two doubles and an RBI in the win. The veteran catcher has recorded an RBI in each of his last three games.
Drew Steckenrider – P, Miami Marlins
Miami Marlins: 3-2, 3.29 ERA, 56 G, 1 SV, 52.0 IP, 43 H, 19 R, 19 ER, 21 BB, 59 K
Steckenrider was perfect in a pair of shutout performances over the last week. The right hander struck out the side in the ninth inning of an 11-inning win over the New York Mets on August 11 and backed that up with another shutout inning on Tuesday in a loss to Atlanta. Steckenrider has not allowed a run in eight of his last nine appearances and has given up just seven hits in that span.
MINOR LEAGUES
Julio Borbon – OF, Sultanes de Monterrey (AAA – Mexican League)
Somersat Patriots (Atlantic League): 56 G, 39 R, 69 H, 16 2B, 2 3B, 5 HR, 33 RBI, 20 BB, 19 SB, .301 AVG
Sultanes de Monterrey: 23 G, 14 R, 24 H, 1 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 11 BB, 8 SB, .330 SLG, .327 OBP, .255 AVG
Borbon finished his season with the Somerset Patriots hitting .301 with 33 RBIS and 39 runs scored through 56 games. Since joining the Sultanes de Monterrey on July 17, the outfielder has notched 24 hits, including a double, two home runs, six RBIs and eight stolen bases.
Andy Cox – P, Dayton Dragons (A – Cincinnati Reds)
Billings Mustangs: 0-1, 1.35 ERA, 6 G, 0 SV, 6.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 8 K
Dayton Dragons: 1-1, 6.00 ERA, 8 G, 0 SV, 9.0 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 5 BB, 8 K
Cox returned from the disabled list on August 10, pitching one inning in a loss to Lansing. Cox also threw 0.1 of an inning in a loss to Great Lakes on Monday.
Andrew Lee – P, Hagerstown Suns (A – Washington Nationals)
Season: 4-2, 4.11 ERA, 17 G, 7 GS, 50.1 IP, 32 H, 28 R, 23 ER, 48 BB, 64 K
Lee made his first appearance in nearly two weeks on August 12 and improved his record to 4-2 on the season after tossing five innings and allowing just one earned run on three hits in a 3-1 victory over Charleston.

Season: 88 G, 51 R, 101 H, 15 2B, 5 3B, 4 HR, 36 RBI, 22 BB, 5 SB, .405 SLG, .338 OBP, .296 AVG
Maddox had a hit in all five games he's played in over the past week and is currently riding a six-game hit streak. The Georgia native had a pair of hits, an RBI and a run scored in Erie's 10-9 loss to Portland on August 9. He followed that up with a two-RBI outing in a loss to Altoona on August 11. Maddox capped off his strong week with two more hits and another RBI in a 5-3 win over Harrisburg on Wednesday. His two base knocks in the game pushed him over the century mark for the year.
Jeff Moberg – 2B, Asheville Tourists (A – Colorado Rockies)
Albuquerque Isotopes: 4 G, 0 R, 1 H, 2 RBI, 0 BB, .125 SLG, .125 OBP, .125 AVG
Grand Junction Rockies: 7 G, 3 R, 6 H, 1 RBI, 1 BB, .304 SLG, .292 OBP, .261 AVG
Asheville Tourists: 11 G, 5 R, 7 H, 3 2B, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 3 BB, .351 SLG, .238 OBP, .189 AVG
Moberg recorded two hits and scored two runs while also driving in a run in four games last week for the Tourists.
Khayyan Norfork – 2B, Harrisburg Senators (AA – Washington Nationals)
Season: 42 G, 15 R, 15 H, 1 2B, 3 HR, 17 RBI, 1 SB, 11 BB, .260 SLG, .257 OBP, .156 AVG
Norfork is currently on the 7-day disabled list and did not see any action over the past week.
Matt Ramsey – P, Fresno Grizzlies (AAA – Houston)
GCL Astros: 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 5 G, 6.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 9 K
Fresno Grizzlies: 2-1, 2.37 ERA, 25 G, 38.0 IP, 32 H, 11 R, 10 ER, 11 BB, 49 K
Ramsey did not allow a run and surrendered just three hits in three shutout appearances last week. The right hander from Oak Ridge also added five strikeouts for the week and lowered his ERA from 2.70 to 2.37.
Jordan Rodgers – 3B, Florida Fire Frogs (A-Advanced – Atlanta Braves)
Season: 72 G, 20 R, 53 H, 14 2B, 3 3B, 2 HR, 17 RBI, 6 BB, .311 SLG, .252 OBP, .209 AVG
Rodgers had a tough week, posting just one hit and scoring a run in four games played. The Fire Frogs' third baseman will look to right the ship this week with four games over the next four days.
Benito Santiago – C, Johnson City Cardinals (Rookie – St. Louis Cardinals)
Season: 15 G, 6 R, 10 H, 2 2B, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 4 BB, .420 SLG, .259 OBP, .200 AVG
Santiago had the best week of his professional career, posting four hits, including a pair of home runs and six RBI in two games. The Florida native went 2-for-3 with an RBI against Bristol on August 12 before a huge performance in a 15-5 win over the Pirates on August 14 in which he blasted two homers and drove in five runs.
Nick Senzel – 2B, Louisville Bats (AAA – Cincinnati Reds)
Season: 44 G, 23 R, 53 H, 12 2B, 2 3B, 6 HR, 25 RBI, 19 BB, 8 SB, .509 SLG, .378 OBP, .310 AVG
Senzel suffered a season-ending injury vs. Norfolk on June 22. The second baseman missed most of May due to vertigo, but hit .400 with seven runs scored, three home runs and 10 RBI in his last 10 games before the injury. Over 19 games in June, Senzel appeared at the hot corner five times with the rest of his appearances coming at second base. He ended the season with a .310, average, .509 slugging percentage and 53 hits through 44 games.
A.J. Simcox – 2B, Lakeland Flying Tigers (A-Advanced – Detroit Tigers)
Erie SeaWolves: 51 G, 22 R, 34 H, 4 2B, 2 3B, 2 HR, 20 RBI, 12 BB, 3 SB, .289 SLG, .261 OBP, .205 AVG
Lakeland Flying Tigers: 27 G, 16 R, 23 H, 1 2B, 3 3B, 1 HR, 16 RBI, 12 BB, .359 SLG, .330 OBP, .250 AVG
Simcox played in six games over the past seven days for the Flying Tigers. The Knoxville native
Had a double and three RBI in Lakeland's 10-3 win over Daytona on Monday and backed that up with a two-hit performance in another victory over Daytona on Tuesday.
Christin Stewart – LF, Toldeo Mud Hens (AAA – Detroit Tigers)
GCL Tigers East: 2 G, 1 R, 1 H, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, .800 SLG, .333 OBP, .200 AVG
GCL Tigers West: 1 G, 1 R, 1 H, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1.000 SLG, .250 OBP, .250 AVG
Toledo Mud Hens: 105 G, 56 R, 97 H, 17 2B, 3 3B, 19 HR, 65 RBI, 57 BB, .456 SLG, .346 OBP, .250 AVG
Stewart and the Mud Hens have played a game on all but one day so far this month. Over the past seven days, Stewart collected five hits, including a triple and his team-leading 19th home run of the season. The Atlanta native is tied for second in the International League with 19 long balls this season and is also tied for fourth in the league with 65 RBI.
Zach Warren – P, Lakewood BlueClaws (A – Philadelphia Phillies)
Season: 3-1, 2.22 ERA, 33 G, 12 SV, 48.2 IP, 29 H, 14 R, 12 ER, 25 BB, 81 K
Warren has been dominant since June 23, allowing only two earned runs in his past 15 appearances. The southpaw has 37 strikeouts and only nine walks in 18.1 innings pitched during that span. Warren made two more appearances this past week, picking up a pair of saves. The left hander did not allow a hit and struck out two batters in an inning of work on August 12 before coming back the next day to strike out the side in another inning of work against the Hickory Crawdads.
