KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Freshman outfielder Zach Daniels won the Northwoods League Home Run Derby on July 24. Daniels also represented his team, the Kalamazoo Growlers, in the league's all-star game, where he went 1-for-2 with a single.

Cape Cod Baseball League
INF Andre Lipcius – Harwich Mariners
Season Stats: 40 GP, .313 AVG, 19 R, 46 H, 3 HR, 11 2B, 25 RBI, .449 SLG, .398 OBP
Lipcius tallied two more multi-hit games this past week for the Harwich Mariners. On July 24, the Vols' infielder went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, smacking a double in the fifth inning. The Williamsburg, Va., native had another 2-for-4 performance on Saturday, reaching base three times while recording his 11th double of the summer. Lipicius also drove in two more runs on Friday, helping the Mariners edge the Bourne Braves, 8-5.
RHP Garrett Stallings – Harwich Mariners
Season Stats: 3 App, 3 GS, 1-0, 2.50 ERA, 18.0 IP, 7 R, 5 ER, 18 H, 0 BB, 21 K
Stallings was one of the top pitchers in the Cape Cod League this summer over his three starts, posting a 21-0 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 18 innings of work. Baseball America writer Teddy Cahill mentioned Stallings as one of the five pitchers in the Cape this summer that raised their profiles heading into the fall.
RHP Zach Linginfelter – Brewster Whitecaps
Season Stats: 7 App, 7 GS, 1-1, 4.55 ERA, 29.2 IP, 16 R, 15 ER, 22 H, 18 BB, 28 K
Linginfelter spun another gem on Friday, allowing only one run over five innings. The right-hander yielded only five hits and one walk while striking out one batter. Though Linginfelter's performance ended in a no-decision, he has made major strides in July. Over his previous three starts, he has pitched 15.0 innings while allowing only two runs. Linginfelter's ERA has also dropped with each start he has made this month.
RHP Andrew Schultz – Brewster Whitecaps
Season Stats: 10 App, 2 GS, 0-3, 3.54 ERA, 1 Save, 20.1 IP, 9 R, 8 E R, 13 H, 25 BB, 23 K
Schultz made his second start of the summer on Sunday, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up one run. The righty gave up just three hits and fanned two batters. In five July appearances, Schultz saw his ERA drop each outing.
California Collegiate League
LHP Garrett Crochet – Santa Barbara Foresters
Season Stats: 5 App, 1 GS, 1-0, 1 Save, 0.00 ERA, 6.0 IP, 3 R, 0 ER, 6 H, 4 BB, 10 K
Crochet did not appear in any games this past week. The lefty has recorded one save and struck out ten batters this summer.
RHP Chase Wallace – Santa Barbara Foresters
Season Stats: 14 App, 0-1, 4 Saves, 1.76 ERA, 15.1 IP, 4 R, 3 ER, 5 H, 7 BB, 15 K
On Wednesday, Wallace made it six-straight appearances without allowing an earned run. It took Wallace only six pitches to retire all three of the batters he faced. The right-hander has given up only five hits over 15.1 innings pitched, helping him keep his WHIP at 0.78.
INF/OF Jay Charleston – San Luis Obispo Blues
Season Stats: 34 GP, .315 AVG, 34 R, 45 H, 2 2B, 4 3B, 2 HR, 14 RBI, .427 SLG, .363 OBP, 10 BB, 26 SB
Charleston made only one appearance this past week, reaching base via a walk. The Vols' sophomore then stole a base and scored a run. The Longwood, Fla., native leads the team in stolen bases (26), total bases (61), hits (45), triples (four) and runs scored (34).
INF Luc Lipcius – San Luis Obispo Blues
Season Stats: 36 GP, .331 AVG, 27 R, 41 H, 10 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 22 RBI, .452 SLG, .462 OBP, 26 BB
Lipcius made his last appearance on July 23, reaching base four times with a pair of singles and a run scored. The sophomore leads the team in RBIs (22), walks (26), doubles (10), extra-base hits (12) and games played (35).
Coastal Plains League
RHP Sean Hunley – Forest City Owls
Season Stats: 4 App, 4 GS, 1-2, 3.94 ERA, 16.0 IP, 14 H, 9 R, 7 ER, 4 BB, 21 K
Hunley appeared in no games this past week for the Owls. The Vols' freshman spun three scoreless innings in in his last game on June 27.
LHP Redmond Walsh – Forest City Owls
Season Stats: 15 App, 3-0, 5 Saves, 2.08 ERA, 39.0 IP, 30 H, 10 R, 9 ER, 10 BB, 69 K
Walsh pitched a total of four innings between two appearances this past week out of the bullpen, earning his third win of the summer on July 24. The southpaw punched out three batters while allowing no hits over two innings. Walsh followed up his dominant performance on Saturday, fanning five batters over two innings against the Gastonia Grizzlies. Walsh's eight strikeouts this past week boosted his league-high in the category to 69. His 15.9 strikeouts per nine innings have come with phenomenal command, where he has only walked 10 batters in 39.0 innings.
RHP Joshua Plummer – Florence RedWolves
Season Stats: 13 App, 4 GS, 0-2, 1 Save, 4.70 ERA, 30.2 IP, 33 H, 18 R, 16 ER, 23 BB, 32 K
Plummer made no appearances this past week. The right-hander pitched in six games between July 4-16.
Northwoods League
OF Evan Russell – Thunder Bay Border Cats
Season Stats: 28 GP, .208 AVG, 13 R, 20 H, 6 2B, 7 RBI, .271 SLG, .313 OBP, 13 BB, 9 SB
Russell did not appear in any games this past week. The Border Cats' outfielder went 2-for-2 on June 29 in a win over the Duluth Huskies.
OF Brandon Trammell – Thunder Bay Border Cats
Season Stats: 38 GP, .246 AVG, 17 R, 32 H, 8 2B, 1 3B, 3 HR, 19 RBI, .392 SLG, .377 OBP, 27 BB
Trammell notched two 2-for-4 days at the plate this past week for the Border Cats. On Saturday, the Knoxville native slashed a single and smacked his eighth double of the summer. Against the Eau Claire Express on Monday, Trammell dropped in two singles while driving in a pair of runs. The outfielder also recorded two RBIs on Sunday.

With the Growlers this past week, Daniels showed off his power. The Stockbridge, Ga., native belted two home runs and drove in seven runs over five games. On Thursday, Daniels crushed a three-run shot in the second inning in an eventual 13-10 win for Kalamazoo. Two days later, he bashed a two-run home run in the eighth inning in a 5-3 comeback win over the Madison Mallards. Daniels has been mentioned as a potential breakout player for the Vols next season by D1Baseball.com after his impressive summer with Kalamazoo.
Smokey Mountain Collegiate League
LHP Will Heflin – Smokey Mountain Eagles
Season Stats: No Stats Available. Helped lead the Eagles to a 11-7 record. The Eagles won the league's championship game 4-1 over the Smokey Mountain Bears on July 17.
RHP Richard Jackson – Smokey Mountain Copperheads
Season Stats: No Stats Available. Helped lead the Copperheads to a 9-11 record. The Copperheads lost 6-5 in the first round of the playoffs to the Smokey Mountain Bears on July 16.
Valley Baseball League
LHP Alex Harper-Cook – Waynesboro Generals
Season Stats: 13 App, 3-0, 1 Save, 2.95 ERA, 24.1 IP, 18 H, 11 R, 8 ER, 8 BB, 17 K
Harper-Cook notched his third win of the summer on Friday, working two strong innings out of the bullpen. The lefty allowed two runs and only one hit while striking out one opposing batter. Harper-Cook's sub-3.00 ERA and 1.07 WHIP have helped lead him to a 3-0 record this summer.
