Gilroy Joins U.S. U-20 National Team for French Tournament

CHICAGO — Tennessee rising sophomore Erin Gilroy will join the U.S. U-20 Women's National Team next week for a round-robin tournament in France.Â
The Tournoi Mauric Revello Sud Ladies Cup features four teams who have qualified for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup: the United States, France, Germany and Haiti.Â
The event provides key preparation and experience for the World Cup group play, which will be held Aug. 5-24 in France's Brittany region.Â
Team USA starts the Sud Ladies Cup against Germany on June 5. The Americans play Haiti on June 7 and France on Jun 10.Â
Gilroy is one of seven forwards on the 22-player roster traveling to France. The Bellmore, New York, native was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team in her first season of action with the Vols. She played in 18 games and started 15, recording four goals and leading the team with nine assists.Â
She earned international experience before beginning her Tennessee career, attending a U.S. Women's National Team U-18 Training Camp in Carson, California, in 2015 and 2016.Â
