Tennessee Concludes Successful Weekend of Spring Matches

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee took wins over Ohio State and Bowling Green as well as splitting two sets with Lipscomb over the weekend.
Under the direction of newly appointed head coach Eve Rackham, the Lady Vols swept two sets against Ohio State, 25-16 and 25-19, and two sets against Bowling Green, 25-17 and 25-19.
"Overall, it was a good day for our team," said Coach Rackham. "We had an opportunity to get game experience for many of our players and work through different lineups."
Tennessee also split two sets with Lipscomb, 25-20 and 22-25.
For the weekend, Redshirt junior Breana Jeter led Tennessee with 16 kills. Junior Tessa Grubbs added 15, while senior Erica Treiber had 13.
The Lady Vols out killed their opponents 85-58 in total on the weekend.
"I liked the way we competed and improved on the things we have implemented in practice. This team is really working hard to play at a high level consistently and accepting that challenge. I was proud of their effort today," stated Rackham.
Tennessee also out dug its opponents on the weekend, 92-72. Senior Brooke Schumacher led the way with 28 and sophomore Callie Williams had 20.
In blocks, the Lady Vols out blocked their opponents by an aggregate of 22-7. Junior Alyssa Andreno and Treiber had four apiece, while Grubbs, Jeter and Sedona Hansen had three each.
Williams led Tennessee with 45 assists, while Hansen had 32.
