McConico Leads Vols Off To Races at Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Junior Kwantreyl McConico ran a career-best time in the 200 meters Thursday to lead Tennessee to start the Pepsi Florida Relays.
McConico finished fifth in the 200m open in 20.56 seconds, the highest finish by a collegiate runner. The time stands as the ninth-fastest time program history.
Tennessee has a full slate of competition Friday at the Florida Relays; most of the opening day schedule was high school events. The Vols' distance runners and throwers will be in action across the country at the Stanford Invitational.
