SDCC Day One: Three Boats Advance To Petite Finals

MISSION BAY, Cali. -- Tennessee Rowing was in action at the San Diego Crew Classic on Saturday with all three boats advancing to the Petite Finals on Sunday.
The Vols' 1V8 finished fifth in Heat 2 of the Women's Collegiate Varsity Jessop-Whittier Cup Invitational with a time of 7:01.920. Texas had the top time of the heat at 6:41.267. UT will compete in the Petite Final tomorrow at 1:24 p.m. ET (10:24 a.m. PT).
The Vols' 1V4 took third in Heat 1 of the Women's Collegiate Varsity 4+ Karen Plumleigh Cortney Cup, besting Southern Methodist and San Diego with a time of 7:36.677. California took first with a time of 7:21.610 and Oklahoma finished second at 7:34.319. Tennessee will advance to the Petite Final at 11:16 a.m. ET (8:16 a.m. PT) tomorrow.
In the Women's Collegiate 2V Jackie Ann Stitt Hungness Trophy, UT's 2V8 took third in Heat 2 with a time of 7:02.855 to advance to the Petite Final at 12:36 p.m. ET (9:36 a.m. PT) on Sunday. Texas took first in the heat with a time of 6:44.069, and UCLA was second at 6:59.744.
Tennessee's 3V8 will also be competing on Sunday in the Women's Open Carley Copley Cup, a finals only event, at 5:08 p.m. ET (2:08 p.m. PT).
