NCAA ZONE B DIVING CENTRAL

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee will host the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships next week as divers from around the region compete for positions at the final championship sites.Â
The meet runs Monday through Wednesday at Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. Admission is free.Â
There are 48 women and 41 men slated to compete in the meet representing 18 schools. Teams participating include: Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Duke, East Carolina, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida International, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern, Miami, NC State, North Carolina, UNC Wilmington and South Carolina.Â
Competition starts at 11 a.m. Monday and Tuesday with 1-meter springboard events, followed by 3-meter in the afternoon and evening. The platform competition begins Wednesday at 10 a.m.Â
TENNESSEE NOTES: Ten of Tennessee's divers are competing next week, including four freshmen who will make their zone championship debuts.Â
The zone championships marks the final time senior NCAA champion Liam Stone will compete in a home collegiate meet. Stone, a native of Aukland, New Zealand, won the 2016 NCAA 1-meter title; he is also a two-time SEC champion and was voted the 2017 SEC Diver of the Year.
Redshirt junior Zhipeng (Colin) Zeng also looks to return to the NCAA final site. He also won an NCAA championships in 2016, the platform competition while on Ohio State's squad. He was named SEC Diver of the Week six times during his first year with the Vols.Â
On the women's side, junior Rachel Rubadue looks to advance to the NCAA field for the third time. She earned silver on platform last month at the SEC championships and is a native of Columbus, Ohio, where the NCAAs will be held.Â
