Two Tennessee Boats Take First At ORCI

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Rowing was in action over the weekend, competing in the seventh annual Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational at Melton Lake Rowing Center. The regatta consisted of three sessions, two on Saturday and one on Sunday.
The first session was highlighted by two first place finishes for Tennessee. The 1V4 came out on the winning side of a dramatic finish, posting a time of 6:58.476 to edge out Notre Dame (6:59.222), Louisville (6:59.312) and Clemson (7:11.236). The UT 3V8 also took first, besting second place Notre Dame by nearly eight seconds with a time of 6:33.812. The 1V8 and 2V8 each took second behind Louisville, finishing ahead of Clemson and Notre Dame with times of 6:17.239 and 6:26.536, respectively.Â
In the afternoon session, the 3V8 posted the top result for Tennessee, finishing second behind Yale and ahead of Michigan and Louisville with a time of 6:42.223. The Vols' 2V8, 3V8 and 1V4 boats all logged third place finishes.
The 1V4 had the top finish for UT on Sunday, coming in third with a time of 6:54.115. Virginia had the top time in that event at 6:43.615 followed by Michigan at 6:45.431.Â
Next Up: Tennessee will travel to Mission Bay, California to compete in the San Diego Crew Classic March 24 and 25.
