KNOXVILLE, TENN. -- Tennessee Rowing will begin its spring season at the 7th Annual Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational (ORCI) on March 17-18 at the Melton Lake Rowing Venue in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
This marks the Vols fourth appearance at this regatta, entry to which is by invitation from the University of Louisville women's rowing program. Other teams competing are Notre Dame, Clemson, Virginia, Yale, Michigan State, Michigan, Miami, Minnesota, Tulsa and Wisconsin.Â
In the first session of the day Tennessee will face off against Louisville, Notre Dame and Clemson in the 1V8, 1V4, 2V8 and 2V4 races beginning at 10:10 a.m. In the 3V8/N8 race at 10:26 a.m. the Vols will match up against Minnesota, Notre Dame and Clemson.Â
In the afternoon UT will race against Louisville, Michigan and Yale in the 1V8, 1V4, 3V8/N8 and 2V8 events beginning at 4:14 p.m. The Vols final race of the day will be the 2V4 at 4:54 p.m., in which they'll face Notre Dame, Michigan and Yale.Â
On Sunday the Vols will begin racing at 10:34 a.m.,matching up against Clemson and Yale in their first race of the day, followed by races against Michigan State, Virginia, Michigan and Yale beginning at 11:06 a.m.Â
Tennessee is coming off a fall season highlighted by third, fifth and eleventh place finishes at the Head of the Charles in the Club 4+, Women's Championship 4+ and the Club 8+, respectively. Additionally, the Vols swept the Secret City Invitational in Oak Ridge, taking first in the Women's 4+, Women's 2-, and Novice 8+.Â
