UT Legend Blaase To Compete In USATF XC Championships

Tennessee great Chelsea Blaase will take on the nation's best distance runners this Saturday in Tallahassee, Fla.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Tennessee legend Chelsea Blaase will compete in the 2018 USATF Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Tallahassee, Fla.
The USATF Cross Country Championships are the first stop on the 2018 USATF Running Circuit. Fans can tune-in for the live broadcast beginning at 10:45 a.m. ET on USATF.TV with a +PLUS subscription. Blaase, who runs professionally for Hansons-Brooks Original Distance Project, will run in the Women's Open 10K. She competed for Team USA on Jan. 13 in the 2018 Simplyhealth Great Edinburgh XCountry, which pit Team Great Britain and Northern Ireland against Europe and Team USA. Blaase finished 12th in the Senior Women's 6K and second among American women with a time of 21:42 as Team USA took third place with 81 points.
In December, Blaase finished second in the Women's Open 6K on Saturday at the 2017 USATF National Club Cross Country Championships. Running for Hansons-Brooks Original Distance Project, Blaase finished second with a time of 19:49.0. She was the top finisher for Hansons-Brooks Original Distance Project, which took home the team title with five runners finishing in the top 25 and combining for 55 points.
Blaase was a nine-time All-American and two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American for Tennessee in cross country and track from 2012-17. She graduated from the University of Tennessee in December with a master's degree in kinesiology.
