Erica Treiber earns second team honors while Grubbs garners honorable mention honors
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --Â University of Tennessee volleyball team had two players named VolleyballMag.com All-Americans.
Senior middle blocker Erica Treiber earned second team honors while junior outside hitter Tessa Grubbs received honorable mention honors, marking just the second time in program history UT has had multiple All-Americans in a single season.
Treiber becomes just the third player in program history to earn either VolleyballMag.com first or second team honors. It is the first time since 2011 when Kelsey Robinson was named to the second team. Kristen Andre was the other honoree, earning first team honors in 2005.
Â
Grubbs becomes the fifth player in Tennessee history to be named to an VolleyballMag.com All-American, marking the first time since the 2005 season the Lady Vols have had multiple student-athletes earn All-American status.
Treiber ended the season as one of two players in the nation to rank in the top five in their conference in hitting percentage, blocks per set and aces per set. She finished the season third in the SEC in hitting percentage (.392) while ranking fifth in both blocks per set (1.10 blk/set) and aces per set (0.37 aces/set).

The senior finished her career second in program history in career hitting percentage (.358 hit%) while also ranking fourth in program history in career blocks (507 blocks) and 16th in career kills (1,097). In her senior season, she had new career bests in kills, kills/set, hitting percentage, aces, digs, digs/set and points/set.
Treiber's career hitting percentage mark of .358 percent and 507 total blocks both rank in the top 15 in the nation while she is one of just three players in the country to record 1,000 career kills while hitting .350 or better. She was named the AVCA National Player of the Week on Nov. 27th while also earning SEC Player of the Week honors that same week.
Grubbs finished the 2018 slate with nine 20-plus kill matches including six in the last 10 matches Tennessee played this season. Her offensive output was a key component to the Lady Vols 11-match win streak to end the regular season as over that stretch she averaged 4.74 kills per set. Nationally, Grubbs ended the regular season ranked in the top 30 in kills/set while ranking fourth in the SEC at a 4.18 kills/set clip.
Her 453 kills this season rank fourth in program history during the rally scoring era (2001-present) while her 4.19 kills per set rank fifth in UT history during the rally scoring era.

The junior earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors twice while being the SEC Player of the Week on Oct. 22nd. Through three seasons, Grubbs has averaged 3.62 kills/set which is fourth in program history.
