Tennessee Baseball First Pitch Banquet Set for Jan. 19

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – As the 2019 season approaches, Tennessee baseball would like to invite fans and supporters of the program to the Tennessee Baseball First Pitch Banquet, which will take place on Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Knoxville Convention Center.
Tickets for the banquet are available on AllVols.com with individual tickets available for $75. A table of 10 can be reserved for $1,000 as well. To buy tickets online, CLICK HERE.
The event will feature a plated dinner and be emceed by the Voice of Tennessee baseball John Wilkerson. Speakers will include head coach Tony Vitello as well as VFL and current pitching coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers Rick Honeycutt.
In his senior season at UT, Honeycutt posted an 8-2 mark on the hill with a 2.88 ERA and eight complete games. He also hit .404 at the plate with 57 RBI, leading to a First Team All-America selection by American Baseball Coaches Association in 1976. Later that year, he was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the June MLB Draft and went to play 21 years in the Major Leagues before moving into coaching.
"We are excited to welcome back former Tennessee baseball All-American and current Los Angeles Dodgers pitching coach Rick Honeycutt to be the keynote speaker at this year's banquet," Vitello said. "After a tremendously successful event last year, we look forward to celebrating the tradition of Tennessee baseball with all of our loyal fans and supporters again this year."
Attendees will also have the chance to meet Tennessee's coaching staff and student-athletes on this year's team.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the banquet officially beginning at 7:15 p.m. Fans are encouraged to park in the Locust Street parking garage, located at 540 Locust Street or the Poplar Street lot, located at 906 Poplar Street.
