Team White Wins Orange and White Fall World Series

The Vols played three intrasquad scrimmages to conclude their fall season and cap off six weeks of practices.
The highlights from all three Orange and White World Series games can be found below.

Orange and White World Series Game-by-Game Highlights
Game 1: White Team 2, Orange Team 1Line Score: White Team - 2 – 4 – 0

Team White came out on top in the 15th inning of Game 1 of the Orange and White Fall World Series, plating the winning run on a walk-off walk. All three runs of the contest were scored in the final frame.
Tennessee sophomore Sean Hunley took the mound for Team White and had a solid start. The right-hander threw 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, a walk and two strikeouts.
Tennessee sophomore Garrett Crochet earned the start for Team Orange. He pitched five shutout innings, striking out four batters while walking two.
The bullpen combined for seven more scoreless innings for Team Orange, with Tanner Kohlhepp and Redmond Walsh each tossing over two innings. Walsh struck out seven of his nine batters faced. Joshua Plummer was saddled with the loss. The sophomore allowed two runs on two hits, walked three and struck out five through 3.0 innings of work.
Team White's Elijah Pleasants and Trey Lipscomb saw long relief action, tossing 4.2 and three innings, respectively. The duo was part of a bullpen that allowed one run on eight hits, walked six and struck out six.
Freshman Jacob Pennington earned the win. The two-way player allowed one run on two hits, walked one and threw three strikeouts in the final inning of the game.
Both teams threatened throughout the contest, but neither could scratch a run across until the final frame. The Orange team struck first on an RBI single to center by Jake Rucker. Dalton Reese had reached base on a single in the previous at bat and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. He scored from second on Rucker's hit.
Team White responded in the bottom of the 15th, plating two runs to take Game 1. Ricky Martinez led off with a walk to get things started. Duncan Pence then singled to short and Landon Gray drew a second walk to load the bases for Pennington. The freshman singled to short to drive in the tying run. With two outs, sophomore Justin Ammons drew an RBI walk to give Team White the 2-1, walk-off victory.

Team Orange forced a deciding Game 3 after taking the second game of the series, 3-2, on Friday. The matchup was originally scheduled for Thursday but was postponed due to rain.
Team Orange sent Chase Wallace to the mound to start the game. The sophomore threw six strikeouts in two innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits. In relief, Garrett Stallings went five innings and gave up just two hits while striking out six.
Redmond Walsh earned the win, throwing one shutout inning while Andrew Schultz picked up the save after also tossing a shutout inning. The duo each struck out one batter.
Zach Linginfelter earned the start for Team White, tossing 2.0 innings. The junior allowed one run on two hits and struck out three. A trio of bullpen pitchers saw action in relief and allowed two additional runs on one hit and seven walks. They also fired six strikeouts.
Zach Akey was charged with the loss. The freshman allowed one run, walked two and fanned two batters through three innings of work.
The White team plated the game's first run in the top of the first inning on a throwing error. Justin Ammons doubled to left and stole third before scoring on the error.
Andre Lipcius tied the game up at 1-1 for Team Orange in the bottom of the frame, sending a solo shot over the left field wall for his first home run of the series.
Team White scratched another run across in the second on back-to-back hits. With one out, Matthew Ellis doubled to center and then scored on Ricky Martinez's single to left.
In the bottom of the third inning, Jay Charleston reached base on a two-out walk. The junior then stole second and third before scoring on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to tie the game at 2-2.
The game remained tied up until the bottom of the eighth when Al Soulaire scored on a sacrifice fly by Connor Pavolony. Soulaire reached on a walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch and then stole third, all with one out to set up the winning play.
In the top of the ninth, Andrew Schultz proceeded to retire the side for Team Orange to secure the save.

Team White won the third and final game of the series, 1-0, on Sunday to become the 2018 Orange and White Fall World Series Champions.
Team White's shutout was due to key performances from starting pitcher Chase Silseth and right-hander Will Neely. Silseth threw five innings, giving up just one walk while striking out one batter. The team turned to Neely in the sixth and he went on to throw four scoreless innings to pick up the win. The senior allowed just two hits and struck out two batters while walking two.
Camden Sewell got the starting nod for Team Orange and pitched five shutout innings while throwing five strikeouts. In relief, Tanner Kohlhepp and Redmond Walsh saw action. Kohlhepp was charged with the loss after giving up one unearned run. The freshman allowed one hit and one walk while striking out three.
Both teams had batters reach base in the first inning but were held scoreless through five innings before Team Orange plated the lone run of the game in the sixth. Infielder Trey Lipscomb reached base and advanced to second on a throwing error by Team White's third baseman. Jacob Pennington's single to center then sent Lipscomb to third before Justin Ammons hit a sacrifice fly, scoring the freshman.
The Orange team threatened in the ninth, putting Andre Lipcius in scoring position on a two-out single to right field by Nico Mascia. Lipcius reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to third on Mascia's single but was thrown out at the plate (9-4-2) on the play.
