Tennessee will head to Pullman, Wash. for a first round match with Colorado State on Friday
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The University of Tennessee volleyball team was selected to the NCAA Tournament as announced on ESPNU Sunday night.
This is Tennessee's 14th all-time NCAA Tournament appearance and its first since 2012.
Boasting a 25-5 overall record and coming off a second-place finish in the Southeastern Conference standings with a 16-2 mark in league play, the Lady Vols will travel to Pullman, Wash. for a first-round matchup with Colorado State on Friday at 7:00 p.m. (ET).
Tennessee holds a 2-2 record against Colorado State all-time, with the last meeting coming in 2012. The Lady Vols won over the Rams in five sets.
Joining them in the four-team site are host Washington State, the No. 16 overall seed in the tournament, and Northern Arizona.
No player on Tennessee's roster has ever played in the NCAA Tournament. Head coach Eve Rackham, however, is making her ninth appearance as a coach—eight of which came as an assistant at North Carolina.
This is the first time a first-year head coach has led the Lady Vols to an NCAA Tournament berth in program history.
