KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- University of Tennessee volleyball team had three players honors earn All-Southeastern Conference accolades, announced by the league office on Sunday afternoon.
Senior middle blocker Erica Treiber and junior outside hitter Tessa Grubbs were voted to the All-SEC Team while freshman outside hitter Lily Felts was one of eight players chosen to the All-Freshman Team.
This marks the first time since 2012 Tennessee has had players selected to the All-SEC Team as Treiber and Grubbs become the 44th and 45th All-SEC selections in the programs' history. Both Treiber and Grubbs earned All-Freshman honors in 2015 and 2016, respectively. Felts joins them as the ninth player in program history to make the All-Freshman Team.
Treiber ended the regular season as one of two players in the nation to rank in the top five in their conference in hitting percentage, blocks per set and aces per set. She finished the season as the only player in the SEC to hit over .400 on the season while ranking fifth in both blocks per set (1.09 blk/set) and aces per set (0.37 aces/set). The senior is now the program leader in career hitting percentage (.360 hit%) while also ranking fourth in program history in career blocks (496 blocks) and 16th in career kills (1,072). In her senior season, she had new career bests in kills, kills/set, hitting percentage, aces, digs, digs/set and points/set.
Grubbs finished the SEC slate with six 20-plus kill matches in the last 10 matches Tennessee played. Her offensive output was a key component to the Lady Vols 11-match win streak to end the season as over that stretch she averaged 4.74 kills per set. Nationally, Grubbs ended the regular season ranked in the top 30 in kills/set while ranking fourth in the SEC at a 4.18 kills/set clip. The junior earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors twice while being the SEC Player of the Week on Oct. 22nd. Through three seasons, Grubbs has averaged 3.60 kills/set which is tied for fourth in program history.
Felts was a key component of the Lady Vol offense and defense this season as she averaged 2.51 kills per set and 2.23 digs per set. The Knoxville, Tenn. native played in every SEC match this season as Tennessee's six-rotation outside hitter. In her freshman campaign, she had 10 double-digit kill matches while having six matches with double-digit digs. She finished second on the team with three double-doubles which all came in conference victories. She was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Oct. 8th after having 3.85 kills/set with 27 kills in wins over Alabama and Mississippi State.
