Vols shoot lowest score of the week in the round three
CAROLLTON, Texas -- The University of Tennessee men's golf finished eighth out of 14 teams at the Maridoe Intercollegiate.
On the final day of the tournament, the Vols carded their lowest round. They finished with a third round score of 294 which was three strokes better than their second round total.
Junior Brayden Garrison carded Tennessee's low round of the week, shooting even par including four birdies. Heading into the final nine holes of play, Garrison sat at 1-over for his round. After paring the first three holes, he found a birdie on the par-5 fourth and pared out the rest of the way to finish round three with a 70 (E).
Redshirt sophomore Tyler Johnson had his best round of the week on Monday, carding a score of 2-over with 14 pars in the round. With the help of a birdie on No. 15, Johnson spent most of his day hovering at even par or 1-over before a second bogey on his final nine holes brought him to 2-over for the round.
Juniors Rhys Nevin and Hunter Wolcott finished as the team's top finishers tying for 30th on the individual leaderboard with 54-hole totals of 226 (+16). Tennessee finished with a three-round score of 898 (+54) and just nine strokes off of finishing inside of the top five on the leaderboard.
Tennessee is back on the course this week as it concludes the fall schedule this weekend at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in Johnson City, Tenn.

"After the grind of playing this golf course all week we are anxious to get to Johnson City and put this one behind us. I am not sure we will take much from this week other than a couple things to work on if we ever play a course like this again." - Coach Brennan Webb
