Vols' First Pitch Banquet a Success

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee baseball welcomed fans and supporters of the program to the 2018 First Pitch Banquet on Saturday night.

The event featured buffet style dining, a silent auction and an appearance from Smokey X. Attendees also had the opportunity to meet the program's new coaching staff and the 2018 squad.

Headlining the banquet, head coach Tony Vitello and legendary college baseball coach Augie Garrido each spoke. Garrido led his teams to 15 College World Series appearances over a 47-year coaching career that included stops at San Francisco State, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Illinois and Texas. He was named National Coach of the Year five times and won five CWS titles.

Fans will have another opportunity to get to know the Vols at the annual Preseason Fan Meet & Greet on Saturday, Feb. 3, beginning at 4 p.m. ET at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. All fans are also invited to watch the Vols' Saturday scrimmage, which will begin approximately at noon.
