Tennesee's men's and women's cross country squads will compete in the 44th annual Paul Short Run on Friday
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the 44th annual Paul Short Run, presented by Asics on Friday at Goodman Campus Cross Country Course in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The UT men are scheduled to run in the Men's College Gold 8K race at 11 a.m. ET. The UT women will run in the Women's College Gold 6K race at 11:45 a.m. ET. All race results will be uploaded throughout the day as they become official on PaulShortXCRun.com.
"We are very excited to head up to Pennsylvania and compete in the Paul Short Invitational," Tennessee director of track and field/cross country Beth Alford-Sullivan said. "Year in and year out, it has been an outstanding cross country invitational, bringing people from all across the Northeast and really across the country. Tennessee has a good history of going up there and doing well up there.
The field for the Men's College Gold 8K includes: Adams State, Albany, American, American International, Amherst, Arizona, Army West Point, Binghamton, Boston University, Canisius, Christopher Newport, Cornell, East Carolina, Fairfield, Fordham, Georgetown, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Haverford, Johns Hopkins, La Salle, Lehigh, Liberty, Manhattan, Middlebury, Mississippi State, Monmouth, Mount Olive, Navy, Rutgers, Saint Francis (Pa.), Stony Brook, TCNJ, Tennessee, UConn, UMBC, Penn, Utah State, Villanova, Wake Forest, Williams.
The Women's College Gold 6K race features: Adams State, Albany, America, Arizona, Army West Point, Buffalo, UConn, Cornell, Delaware, Duke, East Carolina, Elon, Fordham, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Guelph, Holy Cross, Iona, Ithaca, Johns Hopkins, La Salle, Lehigh, Manhattan, Marist, Maryland, Middlebury, Mississippi State, Mount Olive, Navy, Princeton, Queen's University, Quinnipiac, Richmond, Rutgers, St. Lawrence, Stoney Brook, Tennessee, Towson, Penn, Utah State, Villanova, Wake Forest, Williams
The Goodman Campus Cross Country Course is located on Goodman Drive. Admission is free.
The Tennessee women won the Paul Short Run back in 2004.
Alex Crigger, Gashaw Duhamel, John Elrod, Conner Hawkins, Andre Hillsman, Adam Johnston, Drew Kelley, Zach Long, Wesley Robinson and Brad Swiney are slated to run for the Tennessee men. The UT men enjoyed a strong showing at the Bulldog SEC Preview on Sept. 9, placing third as a team with Zach Long taking second and five Vols in the top 25.
Cassidy Giles, Taylor Luthringer, Peighton Meske, Megan Murray, Emma Reed, Alaina Riordan, Niamh Schumacher and Abigail Smith will run for the UT women. Murray finished eighth in the Bulldog SEC Preview and Smith was named the SEC Women's Freshman of the Week after finishing 27th. Schumacher is slated to make her collegiate debut on Friday.
"We feel our young squads are very excited and very prepared to do so," Alford-Sullivan said. "We are coming off of a big month of training, heavy volume, heavy workouts. I think our young people are really ready to put together some great racing and see some great results."
