Welcome To Rocky Top
August 29, 2017 | Rowing
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Eight Tennessee Rowing freshmen have arrived on Rocky Top, moving into Stokely Hall, learning their way around campus, and attending their first college classes.Â
Abbi Altman (Gibsonia, Penn.), Jaimie Armitage (Winter Garden, Fla.), Ashley Ball (Tampa, Fla.), Camryn Farren (Harvard, Mass.), Eleanor Loving (Nashville, Tenn.), Alexandra Natale (Ambler, Penn.), Ashley Van Roon (Ontario, Canada), and Sarah Warner (Powell, Ohio) make up this year's freshman class.
The group arrived on Thursday, Aug. 17, settling into their dorm rooms and beginning to acclimate to campus and college life.
"It's been great. It's definitely the place I know I've wanted to be," said Ball. "The campus feels like home, and everyone is very welcoming. It has the whole atmosphere of being a family, and everyone has been awesome."
All eight freshmen are living in the recently opened Stokely Hall.
"Stokely Hall is awesome, and we are very lucky to have our own rooms," said Natale. "It is also in a very convenient location between classrooms, athletic facilities, and dining halls."
All the athletes are excited to compete as Volunteers, but perhaps none more so than Loving, the sole Tennessee native of this year's class.Â
"Being from Tennessee and coming here is awesome because I know a lot of people that came here, but none of them are athletes, so it was really cool to be able to sign to represent my own state when I committed to Tennessee," said Loving.
The group will look to make an immediate impact this fall season.
