PRAGUE, Czech Republic -- VFL Garrick Porteous earned his first victory on the European Challenge Tour on Sunday, winning the Prague Golf Challenge by five strokes at Prague City Golf Club.
Porteous, who starred for the Vols from 2008-12 and won the 2013 British Amateur, finished at shot 66-67-64-67--264 (-24). The Englishman entered Sunday's final round with a four-stroke lead. Julien Guerrier, Bradley Neil and Christopher Mivis tied for second place at 19-under.
"This result gets my season going because I didn't have much up in terms of points, and I'm really excited – it was there but it just needed to be all put together and that's what's happened this week," Porteous said to EuropeanTour.com after the win.
Eighteen of Porteous' 26 birdies were on the back nine and he also had a pair of eagles. He was 19-under on the back nine for the week and only had six bogeys over 72 holes.
Porteous moves up to 16th place on the Road to Oman with 30,500 points on the season.
