May 23, 2017 | Women's Tennis
ATHENS, Ga. -- Tennessee senior Brittany Lindl learned who her opponent for the first round of the NCAA Singles Championships will be, as the NCAA released the official draw Tuesday.
Lindl will face Baylor's Blair Shankle, who is the No. 5 seed, at 9 a.m. ET on Wednesday to begin the tournament, which will be held at the Dan Magill Complex in Athens, Ga.
"Making the NCAA singles tournament is something that's always been a dream of mine," Lindl said after being selected earlier this month. "To have accomplished this during senior year is a very special feeling to me. This is definitely something I couldn't have done without the coaches, team and staff pushing and supporting me every day."
Lindl, who is currently ranked 42nd in singles, is the third Volunteer on the current roster to compete in the tournament, joining fellow senior Eve Repic and sophomore Sadie Hammond.
During her best season on Rocky Top, Lindl compiled 17 wins in singles and seven ranked wins as UT's top player. In doubles, her and Repic claimed the doubles title at the Tennessee Fall Invite. She's also garnered All-SEC Second Team honors and the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Most Improved Player (Senior) Award this year.
