Vols Have Top Time at Big 12 Double Dual

KNOXVILLE, TENN -- Tennessee had an excellent showing at the Big 12 Double Dual, with the Vols' 1V8 posting the top time of the day and setting a new season best at 6:39.2. The event, held on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn., featured Tennessee, Alabama, Old Dominion and West Virginia facing off in a series of dual races. The Tennessee team finished first in all its races with the exception of the 2V4+ which was edged out by Alabama.
The Vols' 2V8+ posted a top time among second varsity eights at 6:50.0, besting Alabama's fastest 2V8+ time by 15 seconds.
In the Vols' two 1V4+ races, they finished 41 seconds ahead of Old Dominion and 29 seconds ahead of West Virginia with times of 7:51.1 and 7:42.2 respectively.
Tennessee's 3V8 also won both their races, beating Old Dominion and West Virginia with times of 7:28.6 and 7:25.6.
In the 2V4+ Tennessee faced off against Alabama and West Virginia, finishing second each time. In the first race they finished just under 11 seconds behind Alabama, and in the second race they cut that margin to just over four seconds.
Next on the schedule for the Vols is a trip to the Clemson Invitational on April 22-23.
