Clemson Invitational: Day 2

CLEMSON, S.C. -- Tennessee finished thirteenth out of 21 teams at the Clemson Invitational, earning 59 points toward a team championship. Fifth-ranked Texas won the competition with 130 points. Points for the team championship were awarded to 1V8+, 2V8+ and 1V4+ boats based on their finish in each of their three races over the course of the weekend.
In Sunday's 1V8 B Final, Tennessee finished fifth with a time of 6:38.3 in a field where first and last place were separated by less than 13 seconds. Their time put them 1.5 seconds ahead of #18 Louisville who finished sixth and 5.1 seconds behind first place finisher UCLA. UCF, Duke and Oklahoma rounded out the top four while Columbia and Pennsylvania finished seventh and eighth.
In the 2V8 B Final the Vols took fourth with a time of 6:54.4. Washington won the final with a time of 6:46.2 followed by Oklahoma and UCLA. Gonzaga, Louisville and UCF took fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.
Tennessee's 1V4 placed seventh in the 1V4 C Final with a time of 7:49.9, being edged out by sixth place Clemson by .4 seconds. Cornell won the final with a time of 7:39.6. The rest of the top five in order were UCF, Navy, Indiana, and Oregon State.
With two boats competing in the 2V4 C Final, the Vols took first and sixth place with the 2V4+ A posting a time of 8:00.1 to win the final. Navy took second, Indiana took third and UCF placed boats in fourth and fifth. Tennessee's 2V4+ B finished the weekend with a time of 8:26.5 for sixth place.
This is the last regatta Tennessee will compete in prior to hosting the Big 12 Championships on May 13-14 in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
