BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Tennessee senior Sunay Bhat was named SEC Men's Tennis Community Service Team for the second consecutive season, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Bhat, a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, has been involved in a number of projects over the last year, including: assisting with Knoxville Marathon runner support and outreach for the Sean Karl Foundation; working with the Volunteer Ministry Center for clothing and holiday dinner distribution for the underprivileged in the area; helping with tutoring and tennis lessons at the local Big Brothers Big Sisters chapter; gardening at the Beardsley Community Farm, a garden for low income families; and participating in the Read Across America Day at a local elementary school.
In addition to community work, he has also been a team representative on Tennessee's student-athlete advisory committee since 2015.
Heading into the stretch of his time at Tennessee, Bhat has earned a spot in the doubles lineup for the first time in his career and won his first two career SEC matches. He is on track to graduate with a degree in electrical engineering.
