No. 18 Duke recorded the best score of the round, shooting 287 to draw even with No. 5 Alabama at the top of the leaderboard. Both teams will enter Sunday at five-over-par. The Crimson Tide's Kristen Gillman, the No. 33 ranked player in the country, recorded 71 in the second round to take over the top individual spot. Gillman is three-under-par for the tournament.
"Both Micheala and Lucia hit the ball pretty well today," said Head Coach Judi Pavon. "The conditions were tough with a pretty strong wind. It was tough to choose the correct club and the course played pretty long."
Williams's score of 73 (+1) has her tied for 14th individually. Senior Lucia Polo, who led the Volunteers in the first round with an even-par 72, shot 75 (+3) on Saturday, tying for 22nd place.
Fellow senior Hannah Pietila sits tied for 46th place, carding 77 (+4) in the second round.
Juniors Blakesly Warren and Anna Newell are tied for 58th place with duplicate overall scores of 153 (+11).
"We would like to see five good scores tomorrow so we can catch a couple of the teams ahead of us," said Pavon.
Tennessee begins the third day of competition at 8:00 a.m. ET in pairings with No. 6 Furman and North Carolina.
