- Freshman Phenom: Freshman Andre Lipcius extended his team high streak of reaching base safely to 21 straight games. Lipcius has now reached safely in every game to begin his Tennessee career. - Bombin' Dom: Dom Thornton hit his second career home run (also his second of the series) in the second inning of Sunday's matchup with Mississippi State. His first longball came on the first pitch offered in his fourth-inning at-bat against the Bulldogs on Friday, March 24.

Weekend Recap
Friday (3/24)
- Tennessee out-hit Mississippi State by two knocks but dropped a close series opener, 5-4, to the Bulldogs last Friday night (3/24) at Dudy Noble Field.
- Tennessee's bats caught fire in the fourth as the Orange and White plated three runs on five hits but Miss. State mounted a rally of their own in the bottom of the frame as Brent Rooker doubled to center field to lift Mississippi State past the Vols, 5-4.
- Justin Ammons went 2-for-5 in his first start since March 17 vs. South Carolina and was one of three Volunteers to record multiple hits vs. the Bulldogs.
- In Game Two of its weekend series, Tennessee fell to Mississippi State, 14-4.
- After jumping out to an early lead, the Bulldogs used five hits in the third frame and four in the fourth to tack on eight runs and take a 13-0 advantage.
- Tennessee posted its first run in the top of the sixth and plated two more runs in the seventh on two consecutive balk calls against State pitcher Trey Jolly, to trim the Mississippi State's' lead, 13-3.
- Tennessee staged a rally in the ninth, scoring one run for a final score of 14-4.
- In the series finale, Mississippi State used a four-run first inning to pull ahead and hold off the Volunteers for a 7-4 win on Sunday afternoon.
- Jeff Moberg (2-for-3), Jordan Rodgers (2-for-3) and Andre Lipcius (2-for-4) each had two hits for Tennessee while three other Vols tallied one hit apiece.
- In the first at-bat of the second frame, Dom Thornton hit his second home run of the series over the left-center field wall.
