KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee women's golf added Hadley Walts to the 2018 class on Saturday. She is the third player to sign a National Letter of Intent to join the Lady Vols for the 2018-19 season.
"I'm excited to have Hadley join our program," head coach Judi Pavon said. "She is a great ball striker and very athletic. She will be fun to work with and should have an immediate impact on the team. Hadley has been a Vol fan for a long time and it's awesome that she will be here in the fall."
In 2017, Walts led Evansville North High School with a stroke average of 71.50. She helped the Huskies to three consecutive state championship titles in 2014-16, carding top-three finishes as a sophomore and senior. Walts also earned medalist honors in back-to-back IHSAA Regional tournaments (2016-17) and has been selected to the All-State Team every season since 2015.
"The coaches here are extremely special, the facility is amazing and I love the campus and how it felt here," Walts said.
An Indiana native, Walts recorded a fifth-place finish at the AJGA Otter Creek Junior Championship and placed sixth at the AJGA Crooked Creek tournament in 2017. Earlier this year, she birdied four of her final six holes of the Golfweek Junior held at Heatherwoode Golf Club to garner a one-shot victory and card her third Golfweek Junior Tournament win.
Walts qualified as an alternate for the 2017 U.S. Women's Amateur after tying for fifth at the Hoffman Estates Qualifying tournament. During the past two seasons, Walts has also qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championship with scores of 65 and 68.
In addition to leading Evansville North's golf team, she's been named to the All-City Academic Team four consecutive years and earned Honorable Mention All-State Academic recognition in 2017. Walts is a member of her school's Spanish club, student council and the National Honors Society.
Walts is the daughter of Mark and Yvette Walts. She plans to enroll and begin her collegiate career in the fall of 2018.
