Tennessee Rowing Medals at Head of the Charles, Sweeps Secret City

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee Rowing was in action at the Head of the Charles Regatta and the Secret City Head Race this weekend, fielding crews in seven total events.
An alumni crew opened the day for Tennessee at the Head of the Charles. Former Lady Vols Sarah Arms, Melissa Dicerbo, Erika Lauderdale, Dana Sullivan, McKenzie Craig, Kelly Kraiss, Marissa Bell, Melissa Toms and Katie Ross made it down the course in 18:30.295 to finish 20th out of 43 entries in the Alumni 8+ event.
In the Club 4+, freshman Eleanor Loving guided the crew of Rebecca Caruso, Annie Pelic, Mikayla Dutton, and Jaimie Armitage to a third place finish, besting fifty other entries with a time of 18:29.893. Alabama and Pennsylvania took first and second with times of 18:02402 and 18:25.713, respectively.
Senior Jennifer Davis led Katie Porter, Ashley Van Roon, Channing Bearden, Gina Michael, Alex Dawson, Jessica Magnoli, Katherine Pearson and Lauren Higdon to an eleventh place finish in the Club 8+. Tennessee made it down the river in 17:13.080. Radcliffe took first out of a field of 40 with a time of 16:27.044.
On Sunday, Tennessee took fifth out of 16 teams in the Women's Championship 4+ event. Freshman Camryn Farren guided Abbi Altman, Pari Baker, Brenna Randall and Nicole Chojnacky down the course in 17:40.958. Brown University won the event with a time of 17:08.207.
The Lady Vols swept the Women's 2-, taking first, second, third and fourth out of 12 entries. Gena Norton and Kirsten Girard had the top time of 23:02.
In the Women's 4+, Tennessee finished first and second ahead of six other teams. Kristen Freeman, Sarah Warner, Katie Lance, Kirsten Girard and Gabrielle Richardson posted the top time of 19:27.

"In Boston, the team put together solid final preparation and strategic racing in their events," said Head Coach Lisa Glenn.
"The fours brought strong presence and fire to the race course this weekend. They seized the opportunity to feel their positive impact on the crew and the speed of the boat and used this consistently down the course. What is even better is that both the Club four - who medaled - and the Champ four - who finished top 5 - are hungry for more. That's what you want representing Tennessee Rowing."
At the Secret City Head Race in Oak Ridge, Tennessee's five novice boats finished first, second, third, seventh and eighth out of 10 teams in the Novice 8+. The crew of Jordyn Kell, Gia Hodges, Lindsey Morrissett, Andrea Mann, Lauren Bachman, Karoline Maier, Abbe Craine, Isabella Dunn and Allie Asbury posted the top time of 20:34. UT Chattanooga, Murray State, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Ohio University rounded out the competition.The Lady Vols swept the Women's 2-, taking first, second, third and fourth out of 12 entries.
