Hammond, Schuck to Play in Semifinals

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The duo of Sadie Hammond and Gabby Schuck earned their spot in the semifinals of the doubles draw at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships at the Adams Tennis Complex on Saturday.

Going up against the fourth-seeded duo of Meyer and Dvorak of Vanderbilt, Hammond and Schuck fought to take the match, 8-5, to move on.

They will face the top-seeded team of Mami Adachi and Akvile Parazinskaite from Kentucky on Sunday. The Wildcat duo defeated UT's Ariadna Riley and Chelsea Sawyer, 8-3, to earn their spot in the semis.

In singles, Hammond was looking to advance to the quarterfinals in a matchup against Adachi, but her run in the singles draw ended with a 6-2, 6-3 loss in the round of 16. She was the last remaining Lady Vol in the draw.

Riley, Sawyer, Schuck and Tenika McGiffin all came up victorious in their consolation matches today, winning in straight sets against each of their opponents.
