Smokey Greys Return to Hardwood

KNOXVILLE – The Tennessee basketball team will wear its Smokey Grey uniforms for the first time this season when the Volunteers host South Carolina Wednesday at Thompson-Boling Arena. Tipoff is set for 6:31 p.m. ET.
Wednesday will mark just the fifth time since 1950 that Tennessee will wear Smokey Grey. For portions of the program’s first 40 seasons, black and grey were staples of UT’s basketball uniform color palette.
The Vols were 2-1 last season when wearing their Nike Smokey Greys, with home wins over Florida and LSU.
Tennessee’s national championship dance team, as well as its cheerleading squad, will perform at halftime of Wednesday’s game.
The first 500 UT students through the gates will receive a replica Smokey Grey jersey t-shirt, and there will be a pregame pizza party in the student mosh pit area. Wednesday also is a UT Student Rewards pickup night.
