Tennessee Posts Four Top-Five Finishes at Razorback Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Tennessee posted four top-five finishes to conclude competition at the Razorback Invitational on Saturday at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
Tennessee's day ended on a high note as the men's 4x400m team posted the third-fastest relay time in school history with a mark of 3:06.30. The time posted by Ari Cogdell, Christian Coleman, Nathan Strother and Mustaqeem Williams was just .01 seconds short of the time that Tennessee posted last year. Tennessee is now ranked second in the country behind Texas A&M which posted a time of 3:02.52 to win the competition.
The women's 4x400m team of Lenysse Dyer, Shania Collins, Layla White and Maia McCoy posted a time of 3:36.46 to finish in sixth place, but is now ranked 12th in the country.
Williams claimed a third place finish in the men's 60m as he posted a time of 6.67 seconds in the finals. Williams was .03 seconds off his best time and .02 seconds behind the first place finisher. Collins was a bright spot for the Vols as she equaled her 60m PR with a time of 7.35 in the finals. Collins finished in fourth and Maia McCoy claimed 10th place.
Dyer won the opening heat of the 400m Invitational as she finished with a season-high time of 54.50 to take 11th overall. Freshman Brooklynn Broadwater finished in 21st with a time of 55.77.
Cogdell, also competing in the 400m invitational, took 10th place with a time of 47.35. Entering the day, the 400m field featured five of the top nine runners in the country, including Cogdell who ranked ninth. Freshman Joshua McLemore finished in 29th place with a time of 49.03.
Stamatia Scarvelis backed up her third place finish in the weight throw on Friday with a fourth place throw in the shot put on Saturday afternoon. Scarvelis threw 14.95m (49-0.75) to claim fourth position. Freshman Tamia Crockett qualified for the finals and finished in ninth place with a mark of 13.91m (45-7.75).
Sophomore Zach Long finished third in his mile heat recording a time of 4:07.81. Freshman Domonique Turner posted a 60m hurdles time of 7.44 which was the ninth fastest time, missing a finals qualifying mark by .02 seconds.
Chase Sholl and Darryl Harris concluded their first career heptathlons. Harris took seventh place in the final event, the 1000m race, with a time of 2:55.70. He finished in 13th overall with 3,903 points. Sholl claimed 11th place overall as he took ninth in both the 60m hurdles (8.68) and the 1000m race (2:57.07).
