KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee will host the 20th annual Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships from Monday, September 12 through Tuesday, September 13 at Cherokee Country Club (par 71, 5,897 yards) in Knoxville, Tenn.

The field includes 15 teams, four of which are ranked in Golfweek's preseason top 30. No. 23 Tennessee will host BYU, Chattanooga, No. 7 Florida, Illinois, Kent State, Maryland, Memphis, MTSU, Ole Miss, No. 28 North Carolina, SMU, Texas San-Antonio, No. 13 Wake Forest and Virginia Tech.
Four players slated to compete in the tournament are also ranked in Golfweek's preseason top 30 list. Tennessee junior Anna Newell placed No. 11 in the standings. She is followed by senior Maria Torres of Florida who is ranked No. 19. Sierra Brooks and Mathilda Cappeliez, freshmen at Wake Forest, are tabbed No. 28 and No. 29, respectively.
Tournament Format
For the second consecutive year, the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship will be played on a Monday and Tuesday in an 36-18 format.
Round one will begin at 8:30 a.m.ET on Monday, Sept. 12 in a shotgun start. Upon the completion of the first round, play will continue into the second round.
On Tuesday, Sept. 13, the final round will begin at 9:00 a.m. ET in a shotgun start. The awards presentation will immediately follow the round.
Tournament History
- The Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship is celebrating its 20th year, making it one of the longest standing collegiate tournaments in the country.
- The tournament will be held at Cherokee Country Club for the eighth time.
- Kent State set a tournament record 54-hole score of 847 at the 2015 Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship.
- Taylor Kim, Kent State, and India Clyburn, North Carolina State, tied the individual low 54-Hole total of 207 in 2015. The record was set by Erica Popson, Tennessee, and Natalie Gleadall, Ole Miss, in 2010.
- Tennessee and Duke have won the tournament three times each.
- Georgia and Ohio State have taken the title twice.
- Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Kent State, LSU, Penn State, Purdue and South Carolina have each won the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship once.

The Legends of Women's Golf Banquet is postponed until next year due to scheduling conflicts.
