Furman Fall Classic
Women's Tennis Starts Solid in Fall Opener

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Tennessee women’s tennis team began its fall season Friday, competing in two rounds of doubles and a round of singles at Mickel Tennis Center for the Furman Fall Classic.
Starting with doubles, senior Brittany Lindl and sophomore Kim Kermet defeated Furman’s Danni Vines and Katarina Kozarov, 8-1. Sophomore Ashley Bongart and freshman Ariadna Riley beat Jenny Moinard and Ally Miller- Krasilnikov from Clemson, 8-4.
After dropping their first-round match, senior Eve Repic and sophomore Sadie Hammond bounced back to pick up an 8-7 (3) tiebreaker win over Kimmy Guerin and Anna Ulyashchenko of Wake Forest.
In singles, Lindl and Kermet both picked up quick wins in straight sets to move on to the winner’s bracket of their flights. Riley picked up her first collegiate win in singles in a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 match against Florida State’s Andrea Fernandez Garcia.
Hammond, who’s ranked 35th in the country, dropped her first match of the classic to Makenna Jones from North Carolina, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. Repic fell to No. 76 Emma Davis of Wake Forest, 6-3, 6-2.
Play will begin at 9 a.m. tomorrow with a round of doubles followed by a round of singles.
