KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Volunteers open the SEC volleyball season Friday when they host Mississippi State at Thompson-Boling Arena.
The Vols (9-3, 0-0 SEC) match against Mississippi State (8-6, 0-0) starts at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. The Vols wrap up the weekend Sunday with another home match against Georgia (12-2, 0-1) at 1:30 p.m.

FRIDAY’S PROMOTIONS
- Fans get free admission to the match with the presentation of their UT vs. Florida football ticket
- Post-match autograph session with the team
SEC PLAY BEGINS
- This week is the start of SEC play. The Vols will play 18 matches, 9 at home and 9 on the road.
- Rob Patrick is 187-140 in SEC play at Tennessee. He led the team to conference titles in 2004 and 2011.
- Last season the Vols went 7-11 in SEC play, finishing in a tie for eighth place.
LAST WEEK...
- The Vols went 2-1 at the George Washington Invitational in Washington, D.C. UT lost to Northern Illinois before beating James Madison and GW.
- In four weeks of preseason tournaments, Erica Treiber was named to all-tournament teams three times. At GW, she had 3.33 kills/set and hit .531.
- Tessa Grubbs was named to the all-tournament team, averaging 4.11 kills/set and hitting .361.
- Sedona Hansen averaged 12.4 assists per set.
- Before flying home, the team spent Sunday afternoon in Washington, D.C., visiting Arlington National Cemetery, museums and monuments.

- Last Match: The teams just played once last year with the Vols rallying from two sets down to beat MSU in five on the road.
TOP THREE IN THE SEC
- The Vols are ranked in the top three in four categories averages: second in assists (13.16), second in kills (14.20), third in hitting percentage (.291) and third in aces (1.52).
- Erica Treiber ranks second in the SEC with a hitting percentage of .414 (94 K/15 E/191 Att). She opened the week ranked 17th in the NCAA.
- Sedona Hansen, who has started all but two matches at setter this season, ranks second in the SEC and 11th in the NCAA with 11.44 assists/set.
- Bridgette Villano is fourth in the conference in digs, averaging 3.95 digs/set.
