Need to Know
Cousins had a solid debut season for the Volunteers last season, earning SEC All-Freshman Team honors after making 17 starts and appearing in every game for Tennessee. She scored her first collegiate goal in a 1-1 tie at Vanderbilt on Sept. 27 and also had an assist on a 3-0 win over Murray State on Sept. 6. Cousins was named to Top Drawer Soccer’s Preseason Freshman Best XI team as well.
The Forest, Va., native was one of the most highly-rated signees in the history of Tennessee soccer. She was rated the top high school player in the country by Top Drawer Soccer’s IMG Academy Top 150 list and was honored as the 2013-14 Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year. Cousins was also a two-time NSCAA Youth Girls All-American (2013 & 2014). She helped lead her club team, the Richmond Kickers, to a Virginia State Cup championship in 2013 and three straight Disney Showcase titles from 2011-13.
Cousins also already has an abundance of international experience with the U.S. U-18 and U-20 national teams. She played for the U-20 national team in the 12 Nations Tournament in La Manga, Spain in 2013 and also was a member of the U-18 national team that competed in the 10 Nations Tournament in 2014.
