KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Today we'll get to know one of the two players on the team from Colorado, sophomore defender Mackenzie Gouner.
Need to Know
Gouner played in all 18 games for Tennessee as a true freshman last season and made three starts. She played mostly as a forward in 2015 but will be used primarily as a defender this season. Gouner finished second on the team with four assists last year and tied for fourth on the team with six points. Her best game was at No. 7 Virginia Tech, where she scored her first collegiate goal to give the Vols a 1-0 lead.
The Monument, Colo., native was a multi-sport athlete at Palmer Ridge High School, lettering in soccer, track and basketball. She was a three-time first-team All-4A Metro Conference selection, tallying 40 goals and 19 assists during her prep career. Gouner was also a three-time Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) PDP selection and attended the National ID Camp and the National Team Camp in 2013. She chose Tennessee over Colorado, Vanderbilt and Baylor. Check out her entire bio HERE.
