Brooks Qualifies for U.S. Women's Amateur

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee rising sophomore Shannon Brooks will compete at the 2016 United States Golf Association Women's Amateur after posting a score of 70 at the qualifying tournament in Bethesda, Md.
Brooks tied for second place in the tournament and was one of five players to advance from the qualifier. She is the second Volunteer to qualify for the championship event and will join Tennessee teammate Anna Newell, who automatically qualified due to her World Amateur Golf Ranking.
The U.S. Women's Amateur will be played at the Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield, Pa. from August 1 through August 7. The event features two rounds of stroke play with the top 64 golfers advancing to match play.
