Vol Baseball Headed to 2016 SEC Baseball Tournament

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- After finishing their regular season with a series win over the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens, the Tennessee Volunteer Baseball program is headed to the 2016 SEC Baseball Tournament in Hoover, Ala.
Following a Vanderbilt (41-15, 18-12 SEC) series sweep over the Auburn Tigers (23-33, 8-22 SEC)on Saturday, Tennessee (29-27, 9-21 SEC) clinched a postseason bid to the SEC Baseball Tournament for the third consecutive year. The tournament berth marks the first time for the Volunteers to appear in the league's postseason tournament in three straight seasons (2014-16) since 1995-97, as part of the SEC's previous six-team and eight-team playoff formats.
Tennessee claims a No. 12 seed in the 2016 tournament and will take on the No. 5 seed in the first round of play beginning Tuesday, May 24 at 9 p.m. ET (8 p.m. CT).

In the regular-season finale of SEC play, Tennessee came out on top of a back-and-forth affair with Georgia, plating three runs in the ninth for a 5-2 series-clinching win at Foley Field.
By doing so, UT notched its first series win over the Bulldogs since 2010, when UT captured a three-game sweep over UGA in Athens.
