Vols to Face Ole Miss in SEC Tourney

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee women’s tennis team is set to begin the first round of the SEC Tournament Wednesday at 11 a.m. Eastern time at the LSU Tennis Complex in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The 13th-seeded Volunteers will take on the 12th-seeded Ole Miss Rebels to begin the tournament. The two teams faced earlier in the year, with the Rebels coming out victorious.
During the final rankings of the regular season, freshman Sadie Hammond was ranked No. 66 in singles and ranked No. 79 in doubles with junior Eve Repic.
Big Week for Boles
- Junior Ashlee Boles had a big week, being named to the SEC Community Service team and being voted as the Best Female Supporting Role at the annual Volscars, an award show for Tennessee student-athletes.
- Boles was named to the community service team after logging 136 yours of community service within the last year. While volunteering at the Central Veterinary Hospital, she has accumulated 96 hours from that alone. She has also helped with different events such as Goals for Girls, Animal Works and Tennessee's annual VOLoween.
- Boles was nominated by her teammates and coaches for the Best Female Supporting Role for her loyalty and commit to the women’s tennis team. She won the award Monday night.
Ole Miss Notes
- This will be the 43rd time Tennessee and Ole Miss have met. This will be the sixth time the Volunteers and Rebels have faced each other in the SEC Tournament, where UT holds a 3-2 edge. The Vols lead the overall series 25-17.
- The Rebels took the match earlier this year, 4-1, in Oxford. Junior Eve Repic was the lone Vol to pick up a win, defeating No. 79 Natalie Suk, 6-1, 6-3.
- According to the latest ITA rankings, Ole Miss (12-10, 3-10 SEC) is ranked No. 40 in the country. The Rebels have three athletes ranked in singles (No. 29 Arianne Hartono, No. 84 Natalie Suk and No. 103 Mia El Kamash) and one ranked doubles team (No. 27 Hartono/El Kamash).
