Vols Fall at Kentucky, 4-2

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Tennessee women's tennis team fell, 4-2, in its match against 23rd-ranked Kentucky Saturday at Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center.
After the Volunteers (8-10, 1-6 SEC) took a 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point, the Wildcats (13-6, 2-5 SEC) bounced back to win four out of the five competed matches in singles.
In doubles, the duo of freshman Kim Kermet and junior Brittany Lindl blanked the team of Kirsten Lewis and Akvilė Para?inskaitė, 6-0, on Court 2. The duo of senior Tiffany Tavares and freshman Margo Taylor edged out Kate Lanier and Mami Adachi on Court 3, 7-5, to clinch the doubles point for the Vols.
The Wildcats took a 2-1 lead early in singles with straight-set wins on Courts 1 and 2. After Tennessee briefly tied things up at 2-2, UK closed out the match, 4-2, with a second-set tiebreaker victory on Court 3 and a come-from-behind win on Court 4.
Freshman Ashley Bongart defeated Kate Lanier, 6-0, 6-4, in her first weekend back in the singles lineup after suffering an injury earlier in the season.
The Vols will be back in action Friday, as the team returns home to face the Missouri Tigers at Barksdale Stadium at 3 p.m.
