Vols Lose at No. 11 Georgia Tennis, 5-2

ATHENS, Ga. — Sophomore Luis Valero scored his first career top-50 singles victory but the Tennessee Volunteers lost 5-2 to 11th-ranked Georgia on Friday at Dan Magill Tennis Center.
The Vols (6-10, 0-6 SEC) lost the doubles point and five of six first sets but came away with a pair of singles victories from Valero on court 2 and freshman Timo Stodder on court 3.
Georgia (11-3, 5-0) clinched the match at 4-0, winning the doubles point and then picking up straight-set victories from Austin Smith on court 1, Walker Duncan on court 4 and Emil Reinberg on court 6.
Tennessee won two of the three remaining matches.
Valero beat No. 34 Wayne Montgomery 1-6, 6-4, [10-3], scoring his first career victory over a top-50 opponent and his first SEC win of the season.
Stodder earned his first conference win in SEC uniform. He beat Georgia freshman Paul Oosterbaan 6-4, 7-6(1) to improve to 5-0 at the No. 3 position this year.
