Vols Lose at Georgia, 4-0

ATHENS, Ga. -- The Tennessee women's tennis team fell, 4-0, to No. 4 Georgia Saturday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
The Vols (7-8, 1-4) dropped the doubles point to begin the match, and the Bulldogs (12-1, 5-0) carried the momentum over to singles to win the match and remain undefeated in conference play.
In doubles, freshman Ashley Bongart and senior Tiffany Tavares lost to the 62nd-ranked duo of Kennedy Shaffer and Laura Patterson, 6-4, on Court 3. It was Bongart’s first start back from injury since UT faced Wake Forest to begin the spring season.
UGA took the doubles point when the 71st-ranked team of Caroline Brinson and Silvia Garcia defeated the duo of freshman Kim Kermet and junior Brittany Lindl, 6-3, on Court 2.
In singles, Tavares lost, 6-3, 6-3, to Mariana Gould on Court 5. Junior Eve Repic dropped her match Shaffer, 6-3, 6-3, on Court 2. The Bulldogs clinched the match with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 win on Court 1 by 10th-ranked Ellen Perez over freshman Sadie Hammond.
Tennessee will be back in action Thursday, as the Volunteers travel to Nashville to face the seventh-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores at 5 p.m. ET at the Currey Tennis Center.
