Cooper Named SEC All-Freshman

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee reserve point guard Te'a Cooper has been named to the 2016 Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team, the league office announced on Tuesday morning.
The 5-foot-8 product of Powder Springs, Ga., and McEachern High School is averaging 8.9 points, 2.3 assists, 1.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals per contest for the Lady Vols in 29 games. She is hitting 35 percent of her field goal attempts and 71 percent from the free throw line.
Cooper has started 14 times and come off the bench on 15 other occasions, tallying double-figure scoring totals vs. 13 opponents. She has three games of scoring 20 or more points, hitting for 23 vs. East Tennessee State, 22 vs. Central Arkansas and 21 vs. Georgia in UT's last contest.
The lightning quick rookie ranks second on the squad in assists with 66, is third in steals (41) and three-pointers (22), and is fourth in points (257).
In addition to her scoring high of 23, Cooper's other season-bests include 10 field goals vs. Georgia, three 3-pointers vs. five opponents, eight free throws vs. Penn State, seven rebounds vs. Stetson, six assists vs. Stetson and Central Arkansas, and four steals vs. four opponents.
