ROWING CENTRAL: Head of the Hooch

Tennessee Rowing will finish out the fall season by sending 12 boats to the Head of the Hooch regatta in Chattanooga, Tenn. Saturday. Tennessee will have three boats competing in the Women's Championship 8+ at 12:56 a.m. The Volunteers will then have three novice boats in the Women's College & Club Novice 8+ at 2 p.m. The team will close out the day with three boats in the Women's Championship 2x at 3:58 p.m. and three boats in the Women's Championship 4+ at 5 p.m.
The Head of the Hooch is a 5,000 meter race on the Tennessee River in which teams race against the clock, not head-to-head. The Hooch was run for the first time in 1982 with 225 rowers in 105 boats. This year, the race expects more to have than 6,000 rowers and 2,000 boats competing.
