Vols to Host Fall Invite
October 27, 2016 | Women's Tennis
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee women's tennis team will host Ohio State, Arizona State and Wake Forest for the Tennessee Fall Invite this weekend at Goodfriend Tennis Center.
The event will be the first time the Vols have played at home this season. So far, Tennessee's had players compete in the Furman Fall Classic, ITA All-American Championships, ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships and the IU Regional.
There are no draws for the tournament. Each day, the coaches will set their team's lineups. Play will begin with two teams facing off in dual-style singles play, followed by all four teams taking part in doubles and concluding with the remaining two teams competing in singles.
Among the four teams, 10 singles players and two doubles teams were listed in the ITA's preseason rankings. Sophomore Sadie Hammond is the lone Vol in the rankings, sitting at 35th in the country.
Admission is free for the entire weekend, so come out and support the Volunteers in their first home event of the season at Goodfriend Tennis Center, starting at 1 p.m. Friday.
