October 24, 2016 | Women's Golf
BRASELTON, Ga. -- Freshman Micheala Williams of Athens, Ala., was named an honorable mention Rolex Junior All-American as announced by the American Junior Golf Association last week, establishing herself among the top tier of current and former junior golfers from around the world.
Williams is a first-time Rolex Junior All-American. She posted two top-10 finishes during 2016, including a season-best finish of third in her last AJGA tournament, the Rolex Girls Junior Championship.
The Athens High School grad boasts a 72.44 stroke average through three tournaments for the #Vols this season. Williams has recorded three rounds of par or better and placed fourth at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational.
About the Rolex Junior All-America Teams
Introduced by the AJGA in 1978, the Rolex Junior All-America Teams annually recognize players who have proven to be the world's premier junior golfers. This year's teams are comprised of 96 junior golfers, ages 13-19, from 19 states, the District of Columbia, Chile, China, Mexico, Thailand and the United Kingdom. These young men and women distinguished themselves through their outstanding play in 132 national junior golf events, 117 of which were conducted by the AJGA. The Rolex Junior All-America Teams were determined exclusively through the Polo Golf Rankings as of Oct. 12.
The 2016 Rolex Junior All-America Teams will be honored at the Rolex Junior All-America Awards Banquet, Nov. 20, at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, along with Transamerica Scholastic Junior All-Americans and the Jerry Cole Sportsmanship Award recipient. By being named a Rolex Junior All-American, each player has been invited to compete in the Polo Golf Junior Classic, Nov. 19-25, at PGA National Resort & Spa.
