Cousins Named to U.S. U-20 World Cup Roster

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee sophomore midfielder Katie Cousins has been named to the official roster for the United States Under-20 Women's National Team that will compete in this year's FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Papua New Guinea.
The Forest, Va., native was one of 21 players named to the final roster by U.S. U-20 WNT head coach Michelle French on Thursday afternoon. Cousins has been training with the team and has started numerous exhibition games throughout this fall in preparation for the tournament.
The World Cup is slated to begin on Nov. 13 and will run all the way through Dec. 3 in Papua New Guinea. The U.S. opens play on Nov. 14 against France and will also take on New Zealand (Nov. 17) and Ghana (Nov. 21) during the group stage. All matched are set to be broadcast on the FOX family of networks.
Cousins participated in all of the U-20 national team camps through the fall and summer. She has appeared for both the U-18 and U-20 national teams in the past as well. The former SEC All-Freshmen Team selection is redshirting this year and will still have three years of eligibility remaining following this season.
